Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club was incredibly happy to see that 61 children had signed up for the weeklong festival, breaking all previous records in the club’s long standing history.

Andy Murray’s win at Wimbledon this year looks to have inspired the next generation of players, as many young children now feel the desire to replicate this success, by learning to play and enjoy this wonderful sport.

Those attending the tennis festival were aged from 5 to 14, and all children enjoyed their time on the court as they played a variety of fun games while learning to improve their shots.

Many of those who attended the club’s festival have now shown a great interest in joining up as full time members with the aim of improving their overall tennis ability.

Much of the success of this festival is down to the dedicated coaching team which is ever present at the club, along with the assistant coaches.

The entire team ensured that all children and their families were made to feel welcome, and that they came away from the festival having learned something new and had a fun time.

A special mention has to be given to the Countryman’s Spar (Grove Road) who supplied all the children with refreshments throughout the entire week.
