Tennis: Countdown to East Antrim junior competition

The AES Ballylumford East Antrim Tennis Championships get under way on July 6 at Larne Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club.

The tournament takes on added significance as it’s one of the core events in the selection process for the Ulster Junior teams for the Interprovincials in August.

The tournament attracts some of Ulster’s best young players and organisers hope to see last year’s U18 and U16 Boys’ Singles champion, Matthew Robinson, back to defend his titles.

The organisers are also very keen to attract a larger entry of female players this year.

Entries for the tournament close at 6pm on Thursday, July 2, and it is hoped players from Larne and the general East Antrim area will step up to the plate to challenge themselves against Ulster’s best. Entries can be made online at: www.lbltc.co.uk.

Larne Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club is again hugely grateful to AES Ballylumford and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council for their continued support of this tournament. Play commences daily at 9am through to 6pm at the Glenarm Road club, and the general public are very welcome to come along and spectate.
