Tennis side collect league trophies

THE Tennis Club in Banbridge has been busy competing in the Summer League of the Belfast and District League in Divisions 3, 7 and 9 over the course of the last few months.

At the presentation dinner held in the Belfast Boat Club last week the A and C teams collected their well deserved trophies for winning their respective divisions in the league.

The A team consisted of Ali and Matthew McClune, Pauline Crothers and Craig Campbell while Katherine Russell, Kathryn Thompson, Charlie Campos and Greg Radcliffe played most of the matches in the winning C Team.

The B Team was plagued with injuries but towards the middle of August came together and won the last three of their fixtures.

For the third consecutive year Banbridge also participated in the North South League and were able to host teams from Ardee and Dundalk, while travelling to Stackallen, Kells and Dundalk to fulfil the rest of their matches.

The finals of the League will take place in Dundalk Tennis Club on Saturday 20 October. Banbridge notched up one win, three draws and 2twolosses but enjoyed the hospitality and camaraderie of the league.

The Autumn League starts on Saturday 20 October with one mens and one ladies team entered and we look forward to playing in the Floodlit League later on in the year.
