Terrific Thatch win league cup to seal a domestic treble

THATCH Darts Club completed a great season as they regained the League Cup for a clean sweep of all competitions this year.

With eight teams travelling to Bertha’s last Friday night all was to play for. Thatch showed there class to over come a Bertha’s team who fought hard before going down. Villa claimed a semi final spot after a hard fought battle with Floyd’s B.

Heckler’s played well for there victory over Cooley’s to claim a semi final fixture with Sperrin A who received a bye. The first semi saw Thatch over come Villa to secure their place in the final.

The second semi final was to be the match of the night when Heckler’s raced into a 4-0 lead to the surprise of the large crowd.

Sperrin A made a come back reducing the score to 4-3 before Heckler’s claimed the honours and most important a final spot with Thatch.

The final became a formality for thatch who turned in a top class performance to show why they have dominated all competitions this year. Heckler’s can be proud of there nights work in reaching a league cup final with some great victories along the way

Floyd’s A also completed a great season completing the double when they over came Temple to clinch the Division Two Cup. Floyd’s who are now Division Two champions and Division Two Cup winners have played well for there success and may prove top opponents in Division One next year.

The semi final and final of the Coleraine pairs took place last weekend with tw thatch pairs reaching the final. Paul Brown and John Moore had to be at the top of there game to over come a great pair from Sperrin A in Chris Murray and Barry McLaughlin 4-2. The other semi final saw Joe Donnelly and Danny O’Neill take on brothers Jose and Kevin Mullan. In a close encounter Joe and Danny won 4-0.

The final was a close encounter with Joe and Danny starting well when taking the first leg.

Paul and John fought back taking the next two for a slight lead. The game was level 2-2 when missed doubles cost Joe and Danny the fifth leg. With Joe and Danny needing the next leg to force a deciding leg thinks again took a swing when missed doubles cost Joe and Danny the match thanks to a great finish by Paul Brown on the bull to clinch the pairs title for the second year running. Paul and John played well for the win to add yet another victory the Thatch Darts Club

All teams are reminded to contact Joe with numbers for the presentation night on March 13. Dinner tickets are 12 and teams are asked to bring all outstanding money to next meeting in March.
