Testing week for U15s

TOWN Juniors Under-15s completed a testing week by putting up a real fight against title chasing Lisburn Distillery.

The local lads were second best for much of Saturday’s encounter at Havelock Park, but a highly committed display ensured Distillery were made to work hard for a crucial victory.

The only goal of the game came after 13 minutes when Stuart Wilson was given no chance with a header following an inviting cross from the right wing.

With Distillery dictating play and enjoying the bulk of possession the locals were forced to defend resolutely to keep the deficit at one goal until half-time.

Play continued in the same vein after the break with Banbridge struggling to create anything in the final third.

However, their defensive heroics, coupled with a stroke of good fortune when play was waved on after the ball appeared to have crossed the Banbridge goal-line, prevented Distillery adding to their solitary goal.

In the end Distillery were worthy winners but if the locals put as much effort into their last couple of league games against Dromara on Wednesday and Carrick Rangers on Saturday they will surely have more joy.

Team: Stuart Wilson, Nathan Thompson, Jack Canning, Daire McCluskey, Jack Fullerton, Peter Maxwell, Joel Copes, Daniel Devlin, Chris Burns, Nathan Weir, Stephen McKay, Luke Diamond.
