Thatch cruise into second round

The first round of this years League Cup took place on Friday night with four games played on the night while Sperrin Flights, Villa Swifts, Floyds A and Kellys Inn all got byes into the second round.

Top Cup winners The Thatch travelled to Cooleys and there were no surprises here as Thatch ran out 8-0 winners losing only one leg in the match. Bottom Cup winners Railway Arms also sailed into the second round with an 8-1 victory over Floyds B. Scotch House had a much more difficult game against Social Club where they had to fight back from 3-0 down to eventually win 5-4 while Villa and Berthas also had a very hard fought game with where both teams exchanged winning games up to 3-3 before Villa took control winning 5-4 to secure their place in the second round.

There was just the one 180 hit this week by Chris Murray (Railway Arms), highest checkout this week was 106 by Mervyn Greer (Scotch House).

The League would like to congratulate Scott Craig From Scotch House on qualifying for the Northern Ireland Youth Team competing in the Friendship Cup in Scotland from 24th-26th May 2013. Scott has proved to be one of the best young players around in only his first year throwing darts and we would like to wish him all the best in Scotland.
