The Bleachers get back to winning ways

AFTER bowing out of both the Irish Senior and Junior cups and losing to neighbours Ballymena in midweek league games, both Old Bleach teams were hoping for confidence boosting wins over Falls last Saturday and that got with both registering six points to one wins.

The seniors travelled down the M3 to Falls with one change to the team that had fallen to that 5-2 defeat to Ballymena a few days earlier with Alan Scott replacing the unavailable Robert Mark on the rink skipped by Sammy Hall.

From the start Old Bleach took the game to their hosts and all afternoon they never let up coming home with six points and three winning rinks out of four with Neil Booth skipping his rink to a 27-13 win, James Talbot winning 32-12 and Michael Nutt and his rink coming home after a tight game 22-19 winners.

The other OB rink skipped by Hall was another in a cracking game all afternoon but in the end went down by two shots 14-16.

The win will give the seniors advantage going into their PGL Cup quarter final on Wednesday night against the same opponents but this time at their Neilsbrook home a match called off dew to torrential rain a fortnight ago.

Before that though comes a league game away to Larne tonight (Tuesday) were the team have been forced into three changes dew to the unavailability’s of Alan Scott, Nigel McAleese and James Talbot with Robert Mark, Freddie Anderson and Roy McCune all coming into the team.

The Junior team also looking a morale boosting win with a junior cup quarter final away to Comber coming up this Thursday night played host to a Falls junior team also looking a win in their quest to get back to winning ways and like their seniors showed from the start they meant business taking the game to their opponents which ended up helping them to six points in their quest for a top four finish in the league.
