The Mossmen tackle race and hill events

MEMBERS of Kings Moss Cycling Club enjoyed taking on a local race, the famous Lap of the Lough and a spectacular 125k hill event from Dromora during a great fortnight of cycling for the Ballyclare-based riders.

While the past week has brought a number of busy club runs, the previous weekend saw club memebrs travel to a number of events.

Club member Andrew Woodside tackled the Madigan GP on in early August, facing a route of two 18-mile laps of a tough circuit which included two climbs and a strong headwind for much of the race.

A fast descent at Beltoy saw riders reach speeds of up to 50mph.Woodside, who reported back that the race was a hugely enjoyable experience, was lucky to narrowly avoid a crash on the second lap when two riders were scattered across the road very close by.

Meanwhile, riders including enjoyed the Lap of the Lough event around Lough Neagh in aid of the very worthwhile caused of disabled sports.

This week members enjoyed a big turnout for club runs on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, some members were continuing to assist with events elsewhere, with one member marshalling at the East Antrim Harrier's Scot and Gault 10 mile race for runners on Saturday and another member helping with the mountain bikers' National Downhill Championships at Rostrevor.Kings Moss Cycling Club welcomes new members, including beginners.
