DROMORE U11s finally registered their first league win of the Season and did so in a very impressive manner.

Beforehand the team got together and team captains James Howard and Ryan Gallagher inspired the boys with some rousing words and everyone seemed to be in a positive mood.

The togetherness of the team was highlighted when I Palmer produced a bottle of amber hairspray which all the players proceeded to have a dab off. The coaches apologies to all the parents as they're sure they weren't too happy seeing 11 kids with go faster stripes on their hair!

No sooner had the game kicked off, the young Amateurs side had scored their first goal of the game. After three passes through midfield M Brush slotted the ball through to J Corbett who rounded the oncoming Comber Keeper to score.

This bombardment of aggressive attacking play had the young Comber side in shell shock. J Corbett went on to register a quick hat-trick with only 15 mins of the game gone. Goals also followed for M Brush (2), R Gallagher (2), James Howard (2), I Palmer and T Stannage.

With the home side running riot, the coaches changed the team around giving Jordan and James Howard a go at being strikers for the day and a few others found themselves out of position.

This didn't affect the way the U11s played as chances were being constantly created. The most satisfying part of the day was the fact the U11s also recorded their first clean sheet of the season.

So for all the glory the strikers get for scoring, the coaches were really pleased with the performances of E McNally, R Giles, James and Jordan Howard and J Gregg and M Brush for keeping their opponents at bay.

On the day the players man of the match award was tied with J Howard, R Gallagher, M Brush and J Corbett all getting the votes. The coaches man of the match award went to debutant T Stannage who normally plays for the U10s stepping up to the mark for the U11s.

A very good team performance and hopefully this will be repeated next week when the U11s are playing North Belfast at Dromore Community Centre with an 11am kick-off.
