'The penalty decision was ridiculous'

IT was a decent performance on Saturday and I thought we were very composed.

We kept the ball well and were probably the better side in the first half so it was very pleasing considering we were playing against a full-time enthusiastic Wolves side.

I thought we were excellent from back to front. We defended well, knocked it about well in the middle of the park and the front two held it up quite well.

Overall it was a very pleasing afternoon and the substitutions we made didn’t have an adverse affect on our performance either. All the lads who came on did well also.

Wolves turned it on a bit more in the second half but at the same time they didn’t bother Andrew Plummer. I think he only had one save to make and I don’t even count the penalty kick because it was such a ridiculous decision.

Kyle Neill went to ground and clearly won the ball. To the disbelief of everyone concerned the referee pointed to the spot.

He said that the player played the man and not the ball but he got it wrong and I think he knows that himself. You get these decisions though and friendlies are the time to get them!

I’m pleased with the progress at the minute. Our fitness levels are quite high and we’ll be working more on that between now and the 7th August when the league season kicks off.
