The silverware keeps stacking up for All Saints and McClean

They retained the John Logan Cup with an all the way success against Mossley. Simon Beggs, who has had a great season, suffered a rare defeat but the other rinks skipped by Darren Witherspoon, Nigel Todd and Andy Thom wrapped up a comfortable nine-shot win. They become only the second Larne team to win the big treble and will surely be the team to beat for years to come.

Kilwaughter had a good week as their players won the two remaining trophies of the season.

On Wednesday Alan McLean won the Snoddy Singles at Raloo to add to the League Singles he won earlier in the year.

In a repeat of that final he defeated defending champion Darren Witherspoon.

He had earlier defeated clubmate Ian Semple while Witherspoon had also beaten clubmate Simon Beggs to set up the big two clash.

The final turned out to be a great match as McClean raced into an early 6-0 lead.

Witherspoon fought back and took a 12-10 lead going into the 12th end but McClean held his nerve to score two and the game went to a tie-end shootout.

A good third bowl proved to be the winner for the Kilwaughter man as All Saints’ Witherspoon had to settle for second best again.

On Thursday evening the Bell’s Rinks finals took place, again at Raloo.

The final brought together Jack Montgomery’s Kilwaughter quartet against Gardenmore’s Tom Bodles.

It proved to be another good night for the tractor boys, however, as they retained the title - with a few changes from last year’s winning four. Stephen Young and Willie Blair came in to join the father-and-son Montgomery combination and they proved just too strong for the Gardenmore rink.

Kilwaughter eventually snatched the runners-up position in the league after they took maximum points from their outstanding fixtures, to take advantage of some indifferent results for Cairncastle and LB&LTC.

St Cedma’s finished their season with a win away at First Larne and look to have secured the Most Improved Team award, having jumped five places from last season and gained 21 more points.
