The Winter League gets underway

WEEK one of the Ladies Winter League and turkey competition, played over nine holes, started on October 2.

Section 1(0-21) winner: Bronagh McKavanagh, 17 points, from Bernadette Lavery on a better last six holes and from May Baxter on a better last hole.

Section 2 (22-31) winner: Nuala Beatty, 18 points.

Section 3 (32-36) winner: Irene Moore, 20 points, from Andrea McCormick on a better last six holes.

The Mid-Ulster Alliance began on Monday, October 11, at Lurgan. This competition is played from October to March with the six clubs participating, Lisburn, Lurgan, Portadown, Banbridge, Tandragee and Dungannon.

At the AGM the outgoing Captain, Mrs May Baxter, presented the Club of the Year Shield to Lurgan who beat Lisburn by three points.

The new Captain for this year is Mrs Rosemary Wilson from Portadown. The next outing will be at Lisburn on Monday, November 8.

The Lady Captain reminds members that on Thursday, November 18, there is a Flower Arranging and Jewellery Evening at the club. It starts at 7.30pm.
