There can only be five winners in First Blues

There could only ever be one winner in the First Blues Lisburn and District Darts League hosted their Five-a-Side finals and, perhaps fittingly, it went to There Can Only Be Five.

They came up against Ballinderry One in the final and ran out 3-1 winners to clinch the title after what had been a brilliant campaign.

The evening began with the would-be champions taking on Laganview in their quarter-final. They cruised through to the last four with a 3-0 victory, largely thanks to a fantastic 20 dart leg from John Wilson. D Geddis and G Bell also won for TCOBF.

Ballymacash Two were next to seal their place in the penultimate round of the competition but their quarter-final match was a much tighter affair. They saw off Marketview A but only just, squeezing through 3-2.

AJ Coburn won with a 22 dart finish while A Presho and T Bustard were also victorious for Ballymacash. B Jones and S Nugent won for Marketview to ensure the tight scoreline.

Reids Corner also won through as they saw off Belfast Indoor Bowling Club A, also by the narrow 3-2 margin.

Ballinderry 1 beat Dunmurry Inn A 3-1 in their quarter-final match thanks to victories for M Yeates, I Watson and G Rea. Dunmurry’s sole winner was G Andrews.
