Thirds can't Cooke up a victory

BALLYMENA Thirds fell bravely to a well organised and talented Cooke Seconds by 52 points to 15.

Ballymena gave senior debuts to two of the Academy schools cup winning side, Camille Delpy in the centre and Kris Galloway at tight-head prop. Both impressed and will have bright futures in the senior game.

Cooke opened the scoring with two quick tries and then added another just before half time to make the score 19 points to nil.

Ballymena came out fighting in the second half and got a quick penalty and a converted try, all from Glen Scott. Any hopes of a sustained home comeback were soon dashed when Cooke ran in several more tries.

A late consolation, a solo effort from Ali McCosh, was the final fling for Ballymena but Cooke had the last say with another fine try.

Thirds: S McMaster; D Montgomery, C Delpy, I D’Arcy, A McCosh; G Scott, R McGreer; R Adair, J Carmichael, C Galloway, J McKinney, M Kerr, M Moffett, A Swann, S Montgomery.
