Annadale are unbeaten in nine games so far this season and would have expected to win this encounter having already inflicted a heavy defeat on South 2nds some weeks previously.

South 3rds were in no mood to go down without a fight and matched Annadale all over the pitch, with Jack Redpath and Mark Bell in midfield showing up well for South.

South’s best chances came on the counter-attack with the front three of Darren Hutchinson, Nathan Donald and Neil Wilson causing the Annadale defence some problems.

South 4s 0

Kilkeel 1

After winning against their promotion compatriots from Junior 5 last week, it was time to face the team that managed to squeeze a promotion place thanks to a drop out.

This was yet another tight game with chances few and far between. By the time half time arrived, a few saves from each keeper had been the only highlights.

Second half was played in a similar way with South just able to get closer to that one chance that they felt would get them the three points and actually ended up being the more positive team second half, but the ball just wouldn’t fall for them, and when the ball dropped to a Kilkeel stick, they launched a powerful counter attack that was finished off with an inch perfect cannon of a shot from the Kilkeel man past Andy Cameron and into the bottom corner of the net.

The kitchen sink was thrown but Kilkeel stood strong and the ball just wouldn’t quite sit for the Lisburn side and when the final whistle went, the score was 1-0 to Kilkeel who were good value for the three points.

Next week brings the stronger of the two Mossley teams to Prospect Hill at Friends’ all support welcome.
