Thrills and spills guaranteed in Ulster’s Ironman’s new book

Limavady solicitor Peter Jack, known to many as ‘the Ironman of Ulster Triathlons’, has penned a book detailing many of the adventures he’s been on down the years.

Peter is referred to as Ulster’s Ironman because of his numerous accolades in a competitive sport called Ironman that includes a 180K bike ride, a 42K run and a 3.8K swim.

The title of Mr Jack’s book - My Journeys to Everest, Kilimanjaro, Borneo, Morocco and Ironman 14 - rightly suggests that there’s some travelling included!

The book tells of his treks and journeys en route to finishing lines in far flung destinations throughout the world - an amazing story of sheer determination packed with physical feats of endurance that left your totally sedentary Roamer quite breathless.

The book sale proceeds are contributing directly to six major Rotary charities. Peter’s goal is to raise hundreds of pounds each for causes like Jaipur Limb (India), Happy House (Kenya) and Lifeline Radio (Africa).

Peter’s lengthy tally of athletic enterprises is as awesomely wide as his travels. “I’ve done Triathlons, Aquathons, Duathlons, Quadrathons,” he reveals in the book, “but I’ve just completed my toughest ever ‘athon’ - a dry-athon!”

He said: “The book was a real pleasure to put together. The publication however was like a trek to the top of a mountain or an Ironman finish - it involved a lot of preparation, a few sleepless nights but ultimately great satisfaction when it finally reached the finish line and was ready for sale.”
