Through on a tie break

It was another classic close encounter before Lurgan advanced to the next stage of the competition thanks to a tie break.

The Lurgan pairings comprised Timmy Cummins/Orla O’Dowd, James Horan/Clare White, David Magee/Zoe Allen, Gareth Moore/Lady Captain Wendy Rusk and Brian Scullion/ Kathy Matchett.

In the forthcoming Ulster semi-final Lurgan will play Ardglass for a place in the final. This game will take place at Lisburn GC and the winners head to Castlerock for the final.

Unfortunately no such luck awaits the Junior Cup team as they bowed out last Sunday at The Spa. Dunmurry GC won the necessary three matches to reach the next round.

Paul Magee was Lurgan’s only winner on the day. The other members of the team were Mark Campbell, Kevin Leathem, John Horan and David Magee.
