Ties played in Presidents and Down Shoes cups

WITH no league games last week the Presidents and Down Shoes Cups were played, though some clubs will be playing their cup games this week.

Results to date in the Presidents Cup are as follows: St Colman’s 44-24 Dunbarton; St Josephs 50- 29 Ballydougan; Gilford RBL 40-35 St Patrick’s.

Down Shoes Cup: St Colman’s 36-35 Holm Park; Dromore NS 36-35 1st Dromara.

Last Saturday West Down Ladies played the quarter finals of the Inter-zone Plate. The game was played at Ulster Transport against East Antrim with West Down edging home by four shots.

Scores: R Hoy 15-3 M Gamble; S McCauley 8-10 A Cannaway; G Peel 4-12 L Martin; A McLaughlin 6-11 A Polin; J Ringland 6-8 H Steenson; C McKay 10-8 B Conlon. Final score: East Antrim 49-52 West Down.

The ladies will play the semi-final on Saturday 16 January against South Belfast. Venue to be confirmed.

Next Saturday the West Down men will play the quarter final of the Inter Zone in Dromore Cathedral at 2.00pm against Lisburn Zone. Please come along and support the men.

All secretaries please remember the last day for entries for over 55’s is Friday 15 January so get these to Harold by this date.

Another date to remember is the final of the Nationals to be played in Dromore Cathedral on Friday 15 January. Further details will appear here next week.

The entry forms are with all secretaries for the Campbell Cup. These should be returned to Fen McCandless by Monday 25 January.
