Time get voting for Sports Awards

It’s time to get voting for your favourite local sporting star after Larne Borough Council and Larne Borough Sports Forum announced the nomination process for this year’s Larne Borough Sports Awards.

Now is your opportunity to nominate an eligible team, club or individual residing, or born, in the Borough, and deserving recognition for their sporting achievements.

Councillor Martin Wilson, chairman of the Sport Borough Sports’ Forum, said: “The Olympic and Paralympic Games generated renewed interest in sport and the Larne Borough Sports Awards allows us to showcase our own local stars and their acheivements. To ensure it remains pride of place in our sporting community, it is vital that the public and local clubs, schools and coaches nominate those who deserve acknowledgement.”

There are 10 categories this year, including School Team of the Year. The full list for 2012 is as follows:

Services to Sport Award (sponsored Larne Traders’ Forum)

Veterans’ Award (sponsored Inver Garden Centre)

Hall of Fame (sponsored Larne Borough Council)

Deadline for nominations is 4pm on Monday, December 10.
