Time to push for honours in karting’s Ulster Championship series

KART racing’s Ulster Championship series is just past the half way point and this Saturday’s fifth round at Nutts Corner Circuit will start to see drivers really push hard to secure or improve their championship positions.

The Ulster Karting Club promoted series is considered by many as the top single circuit series but this Saturday’s meeting will also be classed as a round of the Northern Ireland championships which tours all four karting venues in the province.

Both series of races are still being closely fought for and this Saturday’s meeting at Nutts Corner will be no less so in all the non gearbox classes. These range from the Cadets for the 8-12 year old drivers, the three Junior classes and three senior classes.

The meeting will also really kick off the summer series of races in the province and a week later on June 23 will see the incredibly fast Superkarts in action at Kirkistown for a round of the NI Superkart championships.

Following on after a successful weekend of Superkart action when the UK Cup and British championships visited Bishopscourt, the160mph capable machines will certainly be putting on a big display at the combined car and kart meeting.

Looking a few weeks ahead to Saturday July 7, the paddock at the famous North West 200 circuit will also be a feature on the karting scene when the Coleraine and District Motor Club karting section host the NW plate as part of its own summer series of races.

Racing this Saturday at Nutts Corner Circuit gets underway with the first of three heats starting at 10am with the finals in mid afternoon. Full details can also be obtained at the newly formatted NIKA web site www.nikarting.com or www.ulsterkartingclub.com.
