Tom represents NI in London’s ‘Mini Marathon’

YEAR 9 pupil Tom Baird from The Wallace High School enjoyed the experience of a lifetime last Sunday when he lined up alongside the thousands of runners taking part in the London Marathon.

Tom was selected to represent Northern Ireland as one of six runners in the minor category who took part in the “London Mini Marathon”, a distance of three miles. He was understandably delighted to be selected and thoroughly enjoyed the experience: “I was really chuffed to get selected to run for Northern Ireland and especially so when I found out that it would be as part of the famous London Marathon. The day itself was brilliant and being part of the atmosphere was a fantastic experience.”

Tom has had a successful season so far representing Wallace at the recent Irish Cross Country Championships where he finished a creditable 20th out of a large field. All at Wallace wish to congratulate him on his fine achievements this year.
