Ton up for Tim

LISNAGARVEY'S Timmy Cockram reached a significant milestone recently when he joined the elite band who have received 100 caps for Ireland.

He did so during the Celtic Cup at Cookstown and is now in the company of other Garvey 'great centurians', Jimmy Kirkwood, Robbie Taylor, Alan Dowd and Daniel Clarke.

Even from a very early stage, Timmy was involved in a successful hockey career. He was a member of the Wallace High School Burney Cup winning team in 2001 and progressed to represent Ulster and Ireland at both Under 16 and Under 18 levels.

His progression to the senior Ulster team was very much a matter of course and in 2004 he made his debut for Ireland against Scotland in the Celtic Cup.

Timmy has now amassed 101 caps having taken part in two World Cup qualifiers and two European Nations Championships during the past six years in the hectic match programme set in front of all International sides.

His dedication to both the Lisnagarvey club and his country has been exemplary and Timmy is quick to acknowledge the support he has had behind him from his family and the club over the years to assist his total involvement in the Ireland scene.

Since his debut for Garvey, Timmy has excited everyone with his ball skill, speed and athleticism along with his penalty corner ability. He has scored 23 goals for Ireland and been top goal scorer for Garvey every year since 2005; long may he continue to grace hockey pitches for both club and country and extend his already brilliant career.
