Top score for John

John Hinds teed off the new golfing season in smashing style at Rockmount GC, winning with a stunning 45 points.

After some early rain, the weather was kind for all players and some took advantage of the benign conditions to post high scores.

John’s 45 points off an 19 handicap that will probably not be beaten this year.

John’s nearest challenger some three points behind was David Bailie (18) who scored 42 points. The low section (0–11) was won by Paul Mearns (10) who also scored 42 points.

The middle section (12–18) was won by Sean Lawell (18) with 40 points and the high section (19–28) by Colin Paul (21) one of a number of players who scored 39 points.

Two players completed the par seventy two in a four over par score of seventy six; Darren McClure (7) was best and secured the gross prize. On Saturday evening the 5 April the Andrew Annett Winter League Dinner and Prize giving was held at Rockmount.

Peter Sinclair chairman of the Ulster Branch Golfing Union of Ireland was the honoured guest.

The victorious team ‘Paddy one Putt’ were duly awarded there winners prize before the evening was concluded by the renowned after dinner speaker and entertainer Robert Glenn; an ex-governor of Berlini Prison in Glasgow.
