Tough week in prospect for Rec

Drumaness Mills 1

Wellington Rec 1

IT’S only one league win in10 outings since the turn of the year for Wellington Rec, who were relieved at leaving Drumaness Mills with a hard-earned point.

It was the same scoreline as one week earlier, when the two sides met at Brookvale Park.

Wellington manager Jim Hagan, opted to give this one a miss, preferring to watch the Seconds draw 2-2 at home to Ards Rangers, with Gareth Montgomery looking after the Firsts.

The Millbrookers held the early edge, deservedly inching ahead when Andy Bell nodded the ball over the keeper, following some indecision in the home defence.

The second half mostly belonged to Drumaness and it was no surprise whatever when they levelled matters. Indeed, they were the one side who looked like winning it, with the frame of the goal twice coming to Wellington’s rescue.

Wellington face a tough week; away to last year’s champions Newington Youth Club on Wednesday night, before the visit of current pacesetters Ards Rangers to Brookvale Park on Saturday.

Wellington Rec; Mills – Todd, P Wilkinson, C Wilkinson, S Cowie – J McAllister, Cahoon (Brunker), Gabbey, Barkley – Bell, Gary Montgomery. Subs (unused) O’Neill, Gareth Montgomery.
