Tour de France sweep

FOLLOWING Bradley Wiggins’s historic victory in the Tour Banbridge CC were celebrating the success of their inaugural Tour de France Sweepstake – a fundraising initiative to support future club ventures including the purchase of new clothing stock.

This certainly provided additional interest in the Tour for those members , friends and conscripts who purchased all of the 200 odd tickets available!

The lucky holder of the Bradley Wiggins ticket was Ronald McCracken - a handy £190 coming his way with two stage wins to add to the £150 first place prize. Jason Walker with second placed Christopher Froome wins £100 while Nigel Bell takes home £50 with third placed Vincenzo Nibali.

Stephen Taggart – with three stage and overall points winner Peter Sagan on his ticket claims £110 while Thomas Voeckler with his King of the Mountains and two stage wins contributed £90 to Helen McGuckin’s coffers.

Gary O’Hagan, Daniel Purdy, Johnny Reid ,Bertie Dodds, Stevie Curran, Patsy McAleavey, Carly McAlinden, and Philip Lockhart all profited from their riders taking stage wins.

This event was unanimously agreed to have been a huge success and BCC thank all who purchased tickets in support of the club in this fundraising initiative. The balance after prizes are paid will be used to fund ongoing and future BCC activities.
