Towers produce stunning win against pool league champions

Towers Tavern may have inflicted a potentially fatal blow on Michelin Masters’ hopes of retaining the Ballymena Towers Pool League title.

The Ballee side side produced a stunning performance to demolish the league champions by a 5-1 scoreline on their own tables last week.

Inbetweeners took full advantage by beating Connolly’s ‘A’ to maintain their own title challenge.

Michelin Masters 1, Towers Tavern 5: James Millar put the away team in front when he defeated David Armstrong in straight frames.

Shane Moody doubled the score for the Towers when he beat Jimmy Knowles by a 2-1 scoreline. Drew Sloan delivered for the Towers with a 2-0 win over Brian Hanna to make the match score 3-0 and it quickly became 5-0 when David O’Neill beat Rick McMaster in straight frames and then Dean Greer defeated Alan Armstrong in the same

fashion.

In the final game Chris Penny averted the whitewash for the Masters when he beat KD Crabbe by a 2-1 scoreline. POM - Chris Penny.

Inbetweeners 5, Connolly’s A 1: The home team went ahead through Brian Hannaway who defeated Gary Erwin by a 2-1 scoreline. Lee Wright doubled the score when he beat Mark Campbell in straight frames.

Phil Houston lost the first frame but fought back to win 2-1 against Kieran Butler to make the match score 3-0.

Gareth Rowe won the first frame against John McAllister but John fought back to win 2-1.

In the fifth game Dessie Cooper had a great 2-1 win against Gary Clarke and in the final game Gary Ormandy beat Joey McNally 2-1. POM - Lee Wright.

Meatballs 5, Diamond Dazzlers 1: Dazzlers got off to a good start when Malcolm Graffin came from being one down to defeat Owen Butler by a 2-1 scoreline. Meatballs’ response was decisive as they won the next three games without

dropping a frame, their winners being Alan Davidson,

Pat McAnally and Ryan

Foster.

In game five Sean McAnally defeated Chris Gordon by a 2-1 scoreline and in the final game Dee Erwin had a win in straight frames over Ian Boal. POM - Malcolm Graffin.

Social CLub 3, Moat Mad Dogs 3: Ricky Moore gave the away team the lead when he defeated Ross Hill in straight frames.

Social Club hit back with a 2-1 win for Marc McMullan over Clinton Bamber after Marc was one frame down.

May Barr, making a rare appearance, had a 2-0 win over Sheree Agnew Tafts and this was followed by a 2-1 win for Albert McBride over Richard Bamber to give Social Club a 3-1 lead.

Mad Dogs had not given up and came back wit two wins in straight frames through Keith Agnew and William Wilson to earn a draw. POM - May Barr.

Mighty Moat 5, Fairhill Dreamers 1: The home team got off to a flying start as firstly Daniel Magill defeated Ashley Harmsworth in straight frames and in the second game Martin Hill beat Ian Dewar 2-1 with the help of an eight-ball clearance in the third frame.

Fairhill pulled a game back through Linzi McClelland who defeated Steven Magill in straight frames but Moat took control from there with wins from David Nicholl, Alan Rainey and Darren Campbell rounding off the scoring. POM - Martin Hill.

Diamond Duffers 0, Fairhill Hustlers 6: The scoreline may look one-sided but Hustlers had to come from behind in a couple of the games to claim the win. Their winners were George McCullough, Paul Hayes, Justin Kilpatrick, Glenn Mairs, Robert Graham, and Ritchie Irwin. POM - Robert Graham.
