Triangle Aces win Charity Shield

TRIANGLE Aces won the Charity Shield last week in the Ballymena and District Snooker League with a 5-1 success over Minnesota B.

Willie Dobbin the Minnesota captain shared his two frames with Richard McMullan as the Ballymena side attempted to add the Shield to the League title they had claimed a week earlier.

Marc Hutchinson recorded a 2-0 success over Rory Kinney to put the Triangle team in good position to win the only trophy which had eluded them last season.

Aces captain Willie Boreland then inflicted a rare defeat on Davy Swann, one of the league’s most consistent performers, to ensure the Shield would make its way to the Triangle club until next season.

As the season moves towards closure the next final to be decided will be the Knockout Cup final between Dunloy United and either Dunloy Cowboys or Fountain Aces.

Minnesota B 1, Triangle Aces 5: W Dobbin 1, R McMullan 1; R Kinney 0, M Hutchinson 2; D Swann 0, W Boreland 2.
