Tributes paid to chairman of Desertmartin Football Club

Sports clubs in the area are mourning the recent sad passing of Jim Campbell, esteemed chairman of Desertmartin Football Club.

Jim passed away peacefully on Saturday after a short illness and was laid to rest on Monday.

There was a large attendance at his funeral service in Lecumpher Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife Roberta, son Derek and daughter Hilary.

Tobermore United chairman Raymond Beatty described Mr Campbell’s death as “a big loss to local football.”

“Jim will be missed by all involved in the sport, and his loss will be particularly felt at Desertmartin Football Club,” he said.

“He would have been the driving force at the club and will be sorely missed by all there.”

He extended the condolences of all at Tobermore United to Mr Campbell’s family circle and Desertmartin club.
