Triple success for Phillips family

DALRIADA School and Coleraine High School were represented at the weekend at the Ulster Schools Judo Championship.

The event ran by the Irish Judo Association was held at Glemgormley High School and attracted a tremendous group of athletes from all over the Ulster region.

Dalriada school boy Stewart Phillips secured the Gold in the 66kg class and brother Connor also from Dalriada fought though one of the toughest sections to secure silver in the 55kgs class.

Meanwhile 13 year old sister Gracious fought hard to obtain the bronze. This was Gracie's first time in this weight category 52kgs and she plans by the end of this year to manage her way up to the top placings once again. All three children are trained by one of the best trainers in the UK, Alan Ashcroft from the prestigious Causeway Judo Club located here in Ballymoney.

If you would like to learn the art of Judo and represent your school come along to the Castlehill Community Centre Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.00pm or why not try training with the Causeway Giants Wrestling Club which meets at the same venue on Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm?
