The Portadown driver secured pole position after qualifying, a fastest lap boost and fourth podium placing in five British races.

Landmark results arrived in the previous round following the switch to Subaru and Turkington managed to maintain his fine form.

Turkington can enjoy his status as the most successful Croft driver in British championship history but finished the weekend with a greater sense of satisfaction at the Subaru team progress.

Turkington’s two-day visit to England resulted in a spot at the top of qualifying, race victory, third-place finish and seventh in the final outing for Silverline Subaru BMR Racing.

His second successive British pole arrived four-tenths of a second faster than the rest of the field.

“I had a fantastic car underneath me, and it was a real joy to drive,” said Turkington following qualifying. “We made important improvements as the day went on, so a massive thanks to the team.”

Sunday’s 32-strong grid proved a test but Turkington produced an emphatic victory by 1.3 seconds over his Subaru team-mate.

Contact on lap eight of race two left Turkington third overall and he finished the closing appearance of the weekend in seventh following the Subaru’s first wet test of the campaign.

Turkington and the team can look forward to continued progress over testing this week at Snetterton before the July 30 race meeting.

“I’m walking away from Croft with a spring in my step,” said Turkington on Sunday. “We proved once again that the Subaru can run at the front of the field, with or without weight and that we have quite clearly left our demons in the past.

“Consistently producing strong podium results for the team and my partners is the goal and it’s even more of a bonus to deliver back-to-back poles and wins at this stage.”
