Tweddle to visit gymnastics clubs

BRITISH Gymnastics are set to wow their Northern Irish members this November as they have arranged for three times World champion and Bronze Medallist Beth Tweddle to visit local Londonderry Gymnastics Clubs, Twisters and Shooting Starz.

Tweddle is considered to be the most successful British Gymnast of all time and the members of Shooting Starz and Twisters are huge fans of the Artistic Gymnastics Star. Both Clubs cater to over 400 members each, delivering programmes and coach education to suit all.

With members competing on the Northern Ireland Squad, the clubs also support the up and coming artistic young talent that Derry has to offer.

Twisters Gymnastics Club has recently moved to new premises to cater to the demands of their growing numbers. Through Twitter, Twisters Gymnastics Club contacted Beth Tweddle back in June and asked her to come and officially open their fantastic new facility. Unfortunately due to training demands of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Beth was unable to make the trip and wished Twisters luck with their new Gym.

With the support of British Gymnastics post-Olympic Games Twisters’ wish was granted and Beth Tweddle chose to visit their premises and officially open their new Club.

The Mayor of Derry has also kindly agreed to welcome Beth to the city and be a part of this fantastic community celebration.

Terri Fisher and Ann Hebor head coaches of the Derry Clubs are honoured that Beth has chosen to begin her victory tour after her Olympic success in Derry City at their facilities.

After signing autographs and delivering workshops to the Derry Gymnasts Beth Tweddle will follow them to Jordanstown to watch them perform at a national, gymnastics for all festival called GymFusion.
