Two good results to round off season

LURGAN Town under 18s played their remaining league fixtures during the past week week.

They travelled to Crumlin on Wednesday night with a full strength squad and started well with McGeown and Campbell both going close early on but there was no score at half-time.

The second half started slowly for Town who were being caught on the break by Crumlin on more than one occasion.

Manager Wilson timed the changes to perfection, bringing on Reid, Coady and Clarke. With Lurgan going all out for the win Reid’s and Clarke’s breaking up of play ended any Crumlin threat.

A long clearance from Kelly in nets dropped to the feet of Coady who turned the Crumlin defender and fired past the on rushing keeper to win the game for the Town.

The following night, Thursday, they took on BBOB and had the best of the early exchanges with Campbell, McCorry and Skelton dominating the midfield.

Campbell struck the post just before the break but the sides went in scoreless.

Town needed the three points to remain in the title race however it was the visitors who took the lead.

Town upped the tempo and struck the post once more, this time it was McGeown who was unlucky. Town’s pressure proved to much in the end with Campbell scoring with a thunderous header from a corner to equalise.

Minutes later a long throw from Carson into the box was flicked on by McCorry to the feet of Coady who netted Town’s second.

A third goal was added by Coady in injury time and Town must now hope results go their way if they are to win the league.
