Two losses and a win for U12

ON Saturday morning Rathfriland U12s took on Midway Colts in the League.

Rathfriland started brightly and put pressure on Midway right from the off although they found it difficult to create any clear cut chances. Midway were strong in midfield and had numerous shot which were either well saved by Jack Moffet in nets or off target.

Mark Weir was Rathfriland's best player putting in a great performance in the centre of defence. Rathfriland battled hard and got their reward when James Boyd scored a poachers goal with only minutes remaining in the second half.

Damolly 3

Rathfriland went into the second game of the morning full of confidence but this time came up against a team who took their chances.

Damolly were a strong team with strength all over the pitch. They dominated from the first whistle winning headers and battling hard.

Rathfriland were timid in response and it wasn't long before they were 1-0 down. This quickly became two and Damolly finally ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Barcroft 2

Rathfriland took on Barcroft in their final game of the morning with a lot to improve on after their second game.

Rathfriland started well and took the game to Barcroft. Barcroft defended well and gradually started to come more into the game.

With the scores level at halftime Rathfriland were looking good to get a result but within the a minute of the restart found themselves one down.

This gave Barcroft a confidence boost and they then ran out 2-0 winners. This was a much better performance from Rathfriland who deserved to get a point from the game.
