U10s stretch their lead at top of table

Castle Juniors 0

Banbridge Town U10s 6

TOWN U10s stretched their lead at the top of the table to six points with an emphatic 6-0 win at Castle Juniors on Saturday.

They played the same 3-5-2 formation that worked so well against Shankill with Woods playing the holding role and Moore coming into the centre. Both were instrumental in the win, rarely losing a tackle and passing with precision.

McCavitt opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a superb volley from an Annett cross. The little winger attacked down the left crossing the ball to the onrushing McCavitt to fire home.

Castle could have equalized soon after but for some last ditch defending from Casey and Quigley before the shot was finally gathered into the safe hands of Hunter.

Banbridge doubled their lead soon after the break. Redpath pounced on a through ball, surged into the box and coolly slotted it passed the keeper.

Banbridge piled on the pressure and from a resulting corner the ball was cleared as far as Donnelly who hit a 20 yard rocket which was parried out to the feet of Winters whose effort grazed the bar.

Another Casey long ball found the feet of Redpath who carried the ball into the box before picking his spot in the top corner to make it 3-0.

Ryan Woods added a fourth before Redpath went on to score his hat trick after beating the offside trap and passing the ball into the bottom corner past the stranded keeper to make it 5-0.

The Town weren’t finished yet and Donnelly added a sixth with a tap in after some good team play. Man of the match was Ryan Woods.
