Seeded No1 Chloe had a straight sets victory over Orla McDaid in the quarter-finals and defeated Siofra Flynn 21/16 21/14 to book her place in the singles final while younger sister Paige did not disgrace herself in a close semi-final with the No2 seed Nessa Flynn.

Chloe dominated the final winning 21/12 21/9 and Paige came close to lifting the consolation title, fighting all the way and caused Julia O’Reilly more than a few headaches before O’Reilly edged through 30/26.

The Woods sisters were unbeaten in the round robin competition, beating Orla and Roisin Mcdaid 21/9 21/4, Nessa and Siofra Flynn 21/12 21/9.

After a few weeks of dominating competitions Alpha’s John McCreedy was to find the All Ireland Individual Championships in Dublin a much different proposition. A difficult opening round victory over Pembroke’s Gordon Chambers, saw him edge through 21/16 21/18 but then faced Adam Jermyn from the Badminton Ireland Academy and took the opening set 21/19.

Jermyn took the second set and it was anybody’s game in the tight decider but the Alpha player just couldn’t get the points and Jermyn booked his place in the quarters 21/17.
