U12s lose heavily at Armagh

SATURDAY September 11 saw Banbridge Town Juniors go on the road to face Armagh City.

Armagh were quickly out of the blocks with Banbridge finding it very hard to find their feet against a very big side.

This resulted in Armagh forcing a corner in the fourth minute which forced an error at the back and Banbridge scored a headed own goal.

Banbridge didn’t let this unsettle them and continued to battle on for 15 minutes but could not find the breakthrough and on 18 minutes Armagh found the back of the net again through another defensive error.

Banbridge continued to battle on bravely only to concede a free kick on 25 minutes which was drove confidently into the back of the net.

With only minutes to go before the half time whistle and with Armagh now on a high, they once again found the back of the net. This time it was an unstoppable drive from 20 yards, leaving the score at 4-0 at half time.

With changes being made at half time, Banbridge regrouped and managed to hold off Armagh for the biggest part of the second half. With only four minutes remaining Armagh won a penalty which was converted by them to make it 5-0.

With only seconds remaining the down hearted Banbridge side conceded the sixth and final goal. This week’s man of the match was Josh Dennison for yet another excellent performance in defence.
