U13s impress in narrow loss

DROMORE U13s played Banbridge on Saturday at Barban Hill.

Banbridge were up for the game from the first whistle and scored an early converted try after two minutes.

Dromore responded with moving of the ball along the backs Richard Dickson at full back came into his own with strong running and off loading in the tackle which let his team mates make a surge for the line but agressive and stout defence from Banbridge’s forwards thwarted all attempts to scre in the corner.

They eventually stole the ball and ran the enitre length of the field to score against the run of play.

Dromore’s Connor Woods and Rory Skillen worked a training ground move from the resulting drop out and scored between the posts.

Mathew Pepper and David Lyttle brought a sense of urgency to the game and help the forward score again before half time.

The large Banbridge side were hungry for more tries and scored two quickly after the restart which were followed up by two replies from the Dromore pack.

Aaron Lyttle, who was in charge of his first match as vice captain, rallied his troops to defend their slender lead but Aiden from Banbridge agin popped up to score.

A fine performance from Dromore’s outhalf Rhys Dale ensured Dromore scored again which was converted by David Lyttle.

This was a great performance by Dromore and theres not enough paper left to praise the whole team but if they keep this level of enthusiasim up for the league campain then they will be a hard team to beat.

Banbridge ran out winners on Saturday but only by a try.
