U14s better than result suggests

Banbridge Town U14s 1

Crusaders 5

ON paper this result looks a lot worse than it was.

The first 15 minutes was very even but Crusaders drew first blood with a well worked goal from the right and followed it up with a second with a well judged lob over keeper Kalem Farrell's head.

Stephen McCavitt nearly reduced the lead in the 25th minute but his shot from the edge of the 18 yard box went just wide from a lovely through ball from Josh Buchanan.

Stephen McCavitt went close again after Declan Loy put him through but again the ball went inches wide of the post.

Josh Buchanan then scored a great header from an excellent corner from Stephen McCavitt just before half time.

In the second half Banbridge started well and were very unlucky when Stephen McCavitt burst through the Crusaders defence and tucked the ball neatly past the keeper. However the referee judged him to have fouled the defender.

The match remained very even until the last 10 minutes when Crusaders got a third goal and with the Banbridge heads going down in the driving rain they finished strongly with two more quick goals before the final whistle.
