U14s left scratching their heads

Damolly 2

Moneyslane U14s 2

SLANE U14s travelled to Damolly midweek, putting in a fine display but are still scratching their heads as too how they didn't win this game.

They started off brightly and pushed the home side into their own half. Curtis Gibson had his effort well saved and Matthew Ervine chipped the keeper but the ball bounced off the underside of the bar and was cleared.

Slane took the lead when Curtis Gibson rounded his marker and slotted home for the opening goal.

But they were caught out with a well taken goal by the home side. Smyth and Neill had chances that were well saved by the home keeper and Thomas Kerr saved well to keep the score level at half time

Slane came out playing well up the flanks with Dale McMullen and Smyth working hard and crossing well for the front two.

Gibson had two good efforts go wide, Smyth hit the side netting and Neil drove over the top. Trimble played the ball through to Gibson who clipped just wide.

Damolly were awarded a corner that was headed home with just two minutes left on the clock for a sucker punch for Slane who just couldn't find the net.

With the game into the last minute a high ball bounced into the Damolly box and Andrew Neill headed past the keeper to level the game.

Best for Slane was Adam Gibson at the back for Slane.
