U17s march on to semi finals

This was the first time these times have met in any competition

Dromore started out brightly against the home side with Johnnie Rossbotham a constant thorn in their side. His size and hard running resulted in two tries for him crashing over from penalty moves and rucks.

A return from injury for Kurtis Bann and Ross Adair greatly helped the squad and both worked hard in the loose and the tight set pieces.

Captain Ryan Hughes bagged two more tries from strong running at a determined Coleraine defence.

Matthew McMaster played at number 6 and gave a strong display of defensive skills as well as controlling the front of the line out. Second rows Patrick Wright and Chris Tinnsley showed in the line outs and linked well with their backs. Scott Rodgers and Matty Davis also contributed to a strong forward display with a lot of robust tackling and hard rucking to provide a strong base for industrious half backs Adam McDonald and TJ Morris.

Morris was rewarded with one try and a single conversion. Adam Reaney scored twice in the second half to reply to a lapse of concentration when Coleraine scored on the wing from a penalty move.

David Pyper showed a return to form displaying strong running with team mates Simon Henshaw, Joshua Brahame and a very promising young back Marcus Heath.

Injured substitute Ross Bingham assisted team coach Ian McDonald on the side line. Coach McDonald commented that the display was a step forward but some rough edges needed to be worked on at Wednesday night training ahead of next week’s semi final at Barban Hill against much tougher opposition Rainey.
