Initially the weather was dry but not long after the last of the teams had been pushed off, the skies opened and there was torrential rain which continued throughout the event and therefore made the conditions atrocious for the riders.

The competition on the night was fierce with a high quality start list which included Cookstown Cycling Team’s Stephen Hutchinson, Conor McAteer, John McGlaughlin and Jonathan Dempsey.

This was the first time the guys had rode together as a team in a Team Trial event but this never daunted them as they undertook the job in hand and put in a brilliant performance.

They had to wait until the last team crossed the line to confirm that they had filled the bronze medal position in a time of 54 minutes 30 seconds, narrowly missing out on silver by a mere 10 seconds, which was claimed by Phoenix CC with a time of 54 minutes 20 seconds.

The winners on the night and claiming the gold medals were Team Madigan recording a time of 53 minutes 4 seconds.

This was a great achievement for the new team in their inaugural year, demonstrating that the team is progressing well and the team dynamic is evolving.

The level of competition was extremely high and the guys were delighted with their result.
