Ulster Summer Camp on its way to Rifle Park

ULSTER Rugby players Chris Henry, Bryn Cunningham and BJ Botha have teamed up with independent retail group Centra to reveal the locations for this year's Ulster Rugby Summer Camps.

The Ulster Rugby Summer Camps, sponsored by Centra and its independent retailers, are for boys and girls aged 6-12 years and this year will run between 5th July and 27th August. Each camp is five days long.

A local camp will take place at Banbridge RFC from August 2-6. In addition there will be a senior camp based at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown, for 13-17 year olds, aimed at boys and girls with previous rugby experience and focusing on the technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle aspects of Rugby Union.

Ulster Rugby Captain, Chris Henry commented: “It’s great to be involved in launching the 2010 Summer Camps. It’s very important that young people all over the province get the chance to experience Rugby, and the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps are a fantastic way for those both new to rugby and experienced in playing the game to develop their skills and enjoyment of the game.

“Rugby has a huge following in both Ulster and Ireland at the moment and the Summer Camps are a great opportunity for kids to aspire to be like their Rugby heroes who they see playing at Ravenhill or on TV. Who knows, hopefully we may even see some of the future stars of Ulster and Irish rugby making their debut at this year’s Summer Camps!

“There wasn’t the opportunity to take part in Ulster Rugby Summer Camps when I was younger, so that’s why it’s great to see Ulster Rugby and Centra coming together to create the opportunity for kids to experience the game.”

Centra Brand Manager, Nicky Kelly added: “Centra is pleased to launch its third season of support for the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps and to once again help promote the camps in all areas of Ulster through the network of Centra stores. Not only do the camps provide young people with the chance to emulate their rugby heroes and learn new skills, but they also allow them to meet the stars of Ulster Rugby, make new friends and get a lot of exercise during the school holidays.”
