Unbelievable we didn’t win

MANAGER’S VIEW

IT was unbelievable that we didn’t win the match.

We created enough chances to win two matches but it was just one of those days when it wasn’t to be.

I was confident going to DC and if we put in a good performance we were hoping to come away with three points but it wasn’t to be and we’ve come away with two points lost rather than a point gained.

It’s disappointing but we’ve got to give credit to the boys for keeping going. It just wasn’t their day. We took a lot of positives from the game. The chances were there and some of the football that we played was very good.

I picked up a strain against Coleraine last week and I thought it had cleared up but obviously it hadn’t. After the first shot I had on goal, I felt it so I had to come off.

John Convery was excellent. He will form a good partnership with Jay (Magee) I think. He’s just what we need in there; he wins headers, he talks and communicates with the other players and I thought it was a great debut from him.

For games like those, we haven’t got the type of player who’s going to be a big powerhouse in midfield. That’s why Conor Hagan went in there when we made the changes on Saturday. In an ideal situation with an even pitch, I’d have been bringing on Kyle Cherry to get on the ball and play.
