Under-13's on top in battle of the Insts

THE first visit to Osbourne Park can be an intimidating experience and the CAI Under-13 A XV spent the first five minutes battling bravely inside their own '22 to keep the large hosts from scoring.

Resolute defence was soon to turn to attack with the impressive Johnny Edgar scoring a try from long range. Connor Vauls also grabbed a try with some powerful running on the left wing.

The Belfast side responded with two tries before half-time, capitalising on mistakes in the Coleraine backline.

A half-time score of 14-12 in CAI favour left a tantalising second half to play. CAI started the second period strongly and quickly made it to the home side's tryline, only to turn the ball over in the final inches.Good defence soon forced RBAI into a mistake under their posts with Adam Sherrard sneaking in to score the third try.

RBAI responded quickly with a try of their own but Marc Welsh intercepted a pass to score under the posts.

Callum Smith kicked his fourth conversion to seal an excellent 28-17 victory and leave Coleraine victorious in the battle of the Insts.
