Under-19s rack up half-century in thumping victory

BALLYMENA Under 19s took on Rainey Old Boys and recorded a thumping 51-0 victory.

From the outset the Ballymena boys took control of the game. A chip through from out-half Wiggins saw confusion spread in the Rainey backs and prop Bowes lifted the loose ball to crash over for his first of four tries.

The Ballymena pack led the way in the first half putting pressure on Rainey in the loose. This platform allowed the backs to take full advantage of their opponents.

With man of the match Evans constantly proving too strong for the Rainey cover it was only a matter of time before Bowes again scored to extend the lead.

The second half followed the same pattern with the pack dominating at lineouts and scrums.

A flowing move saw Wiggins release Evans who sprinted clear and popped a quick pass to full back Leslie. He tookon the winger before releasing winger Pedlow who dived over for the try of the match and first try of the season for the 19s which was richly deserved building on an earlier try from winger Maloney.

The match was now a contest in name only with the Braid boys dominating every area of the pitch. It was only a matter of time before another flowing move saw the backs attacking with full back Leslie running clear to score in the corner.
