United Reserves suffer the Blues

TWELVE games survived the recent wintry conditions on Saturday and it was a relief to get the season underway again.

INTERMEDIATE DIVISION

Cookstown Olympic 7 v 1 Ballycastle United

The scoreline was a bit unfair to the young Ballycastle team as four of the Olympics goals were scored in the final six minutes of the game. The first goal in the game was scored by Dean Stewart on the 30th minute putting the Olympic in front this being followed by a second goal scored from the penalty spot by Kevin Kelly on the 47th minute. Des Tracey then made it three nil on the 49th minute before Alex Watt scored a well taken goal for Ballycastle on the 55th minute. After this the game settled down until Dean Stewart scored his second goal in the game on the 84th minute followed by three more scored by Kevin Kelly 87th, Dean Stewart 88th and Ryan O’Neil on the 89th minutes.Referee Mr Colin Rainey

Ballymoney United Reserves 1 v 3 Magherafelt Sky Blues Reserves

Ballymoney with a number of their youth team players in action certainly gave a good account of themselves though they lost the game against a more experienced Sky Blues tem who it has to be said played very well on the day.

The Sky Blues took the lead on the 5th minute after Diarmud Larkin set up the chance for James Bateson to score then on the 10th minute it was Diarmud Larkin again who opened Ballymoney up putting Liam Brady in to score on the 10th minute.

Ballymoney got back into the game on the 30th minute after Darryl O’Kane scored a screamer from 35 yards and then went looking for the equaliser.

The Sky Blues held out as the game progressed then on the 85th minute Robert Niblock settled the result for the Sky Blues after he scored with a rasping shot from 30 yards.
