BALLYMONEY United finished the season in style beating Ballinamallard 1 - 0 at Fisher Park on Saturday to finish joint sixth in the league.

A fast and furious match with the visitors having the edge in the early stages.

Ballymoney pressure was rewarded on 30 minutes when a poor clearance by Manston in the Mallards goal was headed home by McClelland.

Ballymoney continued to press as half time approached but were nearly caught out by a Higgonbottom mazy run resulting in a ferocious drive well saved by Martin pushing the effort onto the post and wide.

The second half saw the home team up the tempo in search of the equaliser but the resolute Ballymoney defence dealt with everything they threw at them.

McAuley came close on the hour when he hit a fantastic free kick round the Ballymoney wall only to be foiled by the on form Martin in goal diving low at the post to thwart his effort.

Ballymoney seemed content to soak up the pressure and when in control of the game played some attractive possession football

A great move with time running out ended when Gerard Gillan put in Paul Keane one on one with substitute keeper Quinn but young strikers effort hit the advancing keeper and ricochet of the crossbar.
