They were under pressure in first five minutes of the game but Nathan Martin was solid in goals and held on to two well hit shots from distance.

Philip Galloway was solid in front Martin and was winning all the aerial balls against a player a good head above him.

City went close on two occasions and up the other end Josh Porter’s wonder strike on the volley was fingertipped onto the bar.

Slane conceded from a set play when the ball was nodded on over the top and the striker raced in to finish it off.

Slane were still in the game and pushed the City team back in the early stages and were awarded a penalty when Dickson was shoved over inthe box. Ethan Scott stepped up and hammered it into the corner of the net only for the referee to blow up for two Slane players entering the penalty area. The retake was well saved by the keeper.

Slane were disappointed when the referee sent of a player for a late tackle and then 10 minute later sent another one off.

City also lost a player but scored two more goals to finished the game off comfortably.

Best for Slane on the day was Philip Galloway at the heart of the defence who never put a foot wrong on the day.
