Veterans remain in control in Town & Country League

RANDALSTOWN Veterans remain the team in charge at the top of the INBEV Town & Country Pool League as the league programme enters its final rounds.

This week the Veterans side made the trip to Social Chronics were they enjoyed a comfortable victory over their hosts in a 4-1 victory.

Wins on the night came for Jason Beggs, Hans Kuijten, F Brammeld and Gary Davidson. Richard Campbell averting the whitewash for the Chronics with a fine win 2-1 over Nigel Murray and rescue a point.

Hot on the heels of the Veterans however are McAuleys who ran out 5-0 winners against bottom side Heffrons.

McAuleys claimed victory without losing a single frame the win takes the Carnlough side to within just a point of the leaders albeit with a game played extra.

Lurig, too, kept themselves in the title hunt with a likewise impressive 5-0 win over Glencloy Elite taking the Cushendall men to within four points of the lead.

Glencloy Inn however did their league chances no good dropping two important points at home to Lurig B. Tomas Crawley got Lurig off to a flyer with a 2-0 win over Connor McCollum, this was quickly levelled by Paul Bates who defeated Matthew Crawley in a similar score line.

Liam Cooper then took the Lurig side back into the lead. Glencloy however took charge of the contest from there on and Michael Abram and James Atcheson won the last two games to give Glencloy a narrow 3-2 victory.

Elsewhere on the night Greenhills continued their winning form with a 3-2 victory over BUSC wins for Ciaran Reid , Eamon Darragh and Connor Reid was enough to see them notch up another victory for the Glenravel team.

In a re-arranged fixture Halfway B defeated their club mates Halfway A for the second time this season this time the Halfway B winning on a 3-2 margin.
