Naomh Conaill 2-9

Sarsfields took the honours in this Group A Ulster league clash against Naomh Conaill.

Both teams met in Tyrone GAA’s Garvaghy Centre on a windy Sunday afternoon, with Naomh Conaill playing with the wind advantage in the first half. Naomh Conaill dominated the first half, with early scores from Dermot Molloy and Anthony Joseph Gallagher before Sarsfields managed their first score after 15 minutes with a free from Johnny Reynolds.

The Glenties went on to score two goals by Dermot Molloy and Ciaran Thompson, and five points including scores by Dara and Hughie Gallagher. Sarsfields’ Thomas McAlinden managed a late score but after 30 minutes the Donegal side were leading into half time 2-5 to 0-2.

With the wind behind them in the second half, the High Moss men began their comeback with Michael Stevenson and Thomas McAlinden scoring two points from play.

John O’Malley was denied a goal scoring opportunity by goalkeeper Chris Scullion as the ball was directed over the net and another point from Dara Gallagher for Naomh Conaill kept the Donegal side ahead after ten minutes. It was then Sarsfields began to dominate possession with two goals from Mark Reynolds and Paul McGeown brought the teams level in the remaining ten minutes.

Substitute goalkeeper Tyler Crawford managed a late save and with two late points from Paul McGeown and Thomas McAlinden, Sarsfields won by one point to stay top.
